I'm a Test Subject for the Murad Skin Product Line
A friend of mine recommended that I participate in a product testing of the Murad Anti Aging skin care line. I guess Murad wants some feedback from women who are using its skin care regimen. They were looking for women between the ages of 35 and 55 to use their products and document the results.
I've always been blessed with a young looking face and pretty decent skin, so I've never really used any particular skin care regimen before. My skin care regimen consisted of washing my face with Trader Joe's Tea Tree Facial Cleanser, any moisturizer that are on sale at CVS or Target, which is usually Oil or Olay, or a moisturizer from Boots. I then put on a light make up, using some cover stick and foundation, again from CVS, so it's usually Revlon. At night, I wash my face again with soap and cover with some moisturizer. That's pretty much it. As I turned 40 though, I started to notice more wrinkles around my eyes, freckles and age spots on my cheeks, and what bothers me the most: dark circles under my eyes. At 50, when my friend told me about Murad's study, I decided: why not give it a try.
Murad's headquarters, located at 2141 Rosecrans Blvd. in El Segundo, consisted of a Spa,and a center for product testing. I, along with 60 other women, were asked to remove all make-up, have photos of our faces taken from different angles, and spots on our faces analyzed. Then we were given a $600 worth of Anti-Aging Skin product to use daily over the next 6 weeks. We needed to return to Murad every other week for them to take more photos as the study progresses, give testimonials about the effectiveness of the products and get videotaped as well. The process takes about an hour and a half each time. Bagels are provided!
This is what we were asked to do:
Every morning:
Wash our face using the Essential-C-Cleanser.
Apply some Active Radiance Serum to brighten our skin tone.
Apply Essential-C Day Moisture SPF 30 before starting the day.
Every Night
Wash our face using the Essential-C-Cleanser.
Apply Age Spot Pigment Lightening Gel.
Apply any kind of moisturizer.
Twice a week, apply Intensive-C Raidance Peel.
So, what's the verdict? After three weeks, I feel that my skin is softer, age spots are definitely lighter, but not gone. My skin is also more hydrated, probably because I am using all these products every day and night. I seem to see that the dark circles around my eyes have been reduced.
All in all, I think I see some improvements, although they could just be in my head. I'll give it another three weeks and let you know. What's important though, is the fact that I now have an actual skin care regimen that I follow religiously. Hopefully I'll stick with it even after the six weeks test period is over.
