Trip Down Memory Lane with Chicago at the Hollywood Bowl.
If you grew up in the 70's or 80's, you must have listened to Chicago. Even though this band is not exactly my favorite band, some of their songs are really memorable in my youth. My favorites are "Wishing You Were Here" and "If You Leave Me Now".
My friend is in a reminiscing mood. She organized a group of us to see Chicago at the Hollywood Bowl. I wasn't too enthusiastic at first because I feel like I've grown way beyond Chicago by now. But, I decided to hang out with some old friends and have some fun.
It was a beautiful evening at the Hollywood Bowl on July 3rd. The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and the Airforce band kicked the evening off with a salute to the armed forces and fireworks came on. They were spectacular. All of a sudden, this immigrant who never gave much thought about patriotism, felt patriotic. I who got bored over fireworks after the girls grew up, suddenly loved fireworks once again.
Chicago performed next with some of their signature songs, but not the two favorites I mentioned above. Still, it was a nice trip down memory lane. The guys in our group (who are pot bellied and balding) remembered those college partying days when Chicago's slow songs came on and they have their "last chance" to ask a girl to slow dance. It's so cringe inducing that it's funny. We had a blast eating our picnic food and drinking wine.
Next up: My friend wants to go to the Forum in Inglewood to see Journey and Santana. Should I go?
