Lawn Be Gone: The End Is In Sight.
I have about three weeks left to complete my lawn transformation project in order to get the rebate from DWP. (I have altogether four months to transform my lawn from turf to a water conserving landscape and it's coming down to the wire).
The gardener removed all the dead grass. He then dug up the yard and carved it into areas where a planter box was built using railroad ties. Another defined area will have gravel for a seating area. An third would be fore me to grow some vegetables. He will next put in a mesh cover over the different parts of the lawn so that grass won't come out randomly in the future.
Once all this is done, I can put in ground cover, mulch, gravel and plants. I've been collecting some succulents that I want in the garden, and I've also taken some pictures of plants from different botanical gardens, and nurseries for reference. I can't wait for the plants to go in.
A deck will be build on the side for eventual carving of a sliding door from the house onto the deck. All this is costing us more than we expected, even with the DWP rebate, but the result will be that we will have a more inviting front yard and we use it more.
It is all so exciting. I just hope we meet the deadline.
